A speeding car rammed two vehicles, including an auto, on the Barapula flyover in Delhi late on Friday night. The accident was so horrific that the auto rider died and four people including three family members were injured.
The condition of the teen’s mother is critical. He has been put on ventilator. Father and brother have also been hurt. After the accident, there has been a huge traffic jam on the flyover. Police team is busy in clearing the jam. The occupants of the car have fled after the accident. Police is trying to trace them on the basis of the number of the car.
According to the police, the accident happened due to a Tata Nexon car. People told that the youth driving the car was driving very recklessly. The car first hit an auto. There were four people from the same family and the driver in it. After hitting the auto, the car also hit the Swift DZire car. The Nexon took off after hitting the Desire. Thereafter, the occupants fled leaving the car on the spot. The flyover was jammed soon after the accident. There was a queue of cars on both sides.
The people present on the spot informed about the accident to the PCR vehicle of Sunlight Colony. Police, who reached the spot, took Janakjanardan (45), his wife Geeta Bhatt, sons Karthik (18) and Karan (13) in the auto, besides driver Waqar Alam to AIIMS in critical condition. Karan was declared brought dead in the hospital. Geeta Bhatt has been kept on ventilator as her condition becomes critical. Other people are also undergoing treatment.
South East Delhi DCP Isha Pandey said that the search is on for the owner of the car that caused the accident. Based on the number registered on the car, the police team is reaching the owner and is engaged in further action. Police teams reached the spot immediately and intensified the process of clearing the jam.
