New Delhi. Recently, in the Centurion Test match against South Africa, India suffered a disappointing defeat by an innings and 32 runs. Despite this defeat, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli once again created history. Kohli scored 76 runs in the second innings against the host team and achieved the feat of crossing 2000 international runs in the year 2023. With this feat, Virat Kohli has now set a world record for scoring more than 2000 international runs most times in a calendar year. He left former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara behind, who had achieved this feat six times in his career.

He then repeated this feat in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and now in 2023.
The record of scoring most international runs (2818) in a calendar year for India is currently in the name of Virat Kohli. This record was set in 2017, when Kohli played 46 matches at an average of 68.73. During that year, he also scored 11 centuries and 10 half-centuries.
