Summary
In response to RTI, it was said that the request for allocation of panels for the appointment of Directors of Prosecution and Investigation has been made to the government.
The Lokpal, which has come into existence since March 2019, has not yet given permission to prosecute any government official or employee on charges of corruption.
The disclosure came in response to an RTI application. It also came to the fore that the directors of investigation and prosecution have not even been appointed in the Lokpal. Nor were two senior officers appointed to register complaints of corruption and complete the process of prosecuting corrupt government officials.

Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose was sworn in as the chairman of the Lokpal by President Ram Nath Kovind on 23 March 2019. Lokpal consists of 8 members, out of which 4 will be judicial and the rest will be non-judicial. At present, the posts of two judicial members are vacant.
Complaints: 80 percent more have come so far this year
- 4,244 complaints came to Lokpal in FY 2021-22 till 31 January 2021
- 2,355 complaints came to Lokpal in the year 2020-21
- 1,427 complaints were received in the year 2019-20
