New Delhi. The Election Commission of India stopped West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose from visiting Cooch Behar. The Election Commission has advised him not to go to Cooch Behar citing violation of the Model Code of Conduct. As per the pre-planned programme, the Governor has to visit Cooch Behar on 18th and 19th April. The Election Commission said that the first phase of elections is scheduled for April 19 and this visit will be a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The Model Code came into force on 16 March with the announcement of Lok Sabha general elections.
Voting is to be held in Cooch Behar on April 19 and the 48-hour period of ban on election campaigning will start from Wednesday evening. Sources said that after knowing about the proposed visit of West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose to Cooch Behar on April 18 and 19, the Election Commission has advised him to cancel the visit as it would be a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

The Election Commission, in its letter sent to the Governor’s office, said that due to the Model Code of Conduct, no local program can be organized for the Governor as proposed in his program. The first phase of voting under the Lok Sabha elections 2024 is to be held on April 19. It is the responsibility of the Election Commission to conduct elections in a peaceful and smooth manner in the country. For the last one month, the election code of conduct has been in place in the entire country. After completing 10 years at the Centre, PM Narendra Modi is presenting his strong claim for the post of Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. Voting for Lok Sabha elections 2024 is to be held in a total of 7 phases. After which the results will be announced on June 4.
