What hormonal changes happen during periods?
Dr. Jyotsna K tells that, in the first phase of periods, the level of estrogen hormone starts increasing in the body. This estrogen hormone prepares the eggs for fertilization and releases them. In the second phase, the level of progesterone hormone starts increasing, which prepares the uterine wall for implantation. In such a situation, when the egg (ovum) that comes out of the uterus does not get fertilized, then periods come. After this, the levels of progesterone and estrogen in the body suddenly start decreasing.
Symptoms of flatulence during menstruation
According to gynecologist Dr. Jyotsna Devi, stomach upset and flatulence are some common signs which indicate that your periods are about to start soon. In this, symptoms like flatulence, feeling of heaviness in the stomach, feeling of stiffness or strain in the stomach can be seen. Of course this problem is normal, but ignoring it can be fatal. This problem occurs due to imbalance of water and salt in the body and change in stomach activities during periods.
Ways to prevent gas produced before periods
Healthy Diet: According to experts, to avoid gas before periods, consume a diet low in salt and rich in fiber. With the help of this diet, the activities of your stomach and intestines start improving and helps in reducing water retention in the body. In such a situation, drink more water. Along with this, take magnesium rich foods including almonds, peanuts, cashews, oatmeal and soya milk.
Take potassium rich things: Dr. Jyotsna says that potassium balances the amount of sodium in the blood and this reduces flatulence. Salt-water retention also reduces. For this, you can make things like spinach, banana and avocado a part of your diet. Because, these things contain potassium in abundance.

lemonade: If you are facing gas problem before periods, then you can consume lemon water. Lemon water has citric properties, due to which the problems of gas in the stomach can be removed. You can take it regularly with lukewarm water.
Roasted cumin: In case of flatulence or gas problem, eat roasted cumin and black salt with water. You can get immediate relief from this. Besides, it can also provide relief from other problems occurring during periods. You can also get relief from the problem by drinking cumin water.
