Magarload. There has been a problem of drinking water in Nagar Panchayat Magarlod since the beginning. After the formation of Nagar Panchayat, Rs. 10 crore 23 lakh 96 thousand was approved by the government under the Jal Augmentation Scheme for smooth functioning of the drinking water system in the city.
Public Health Engineering Subdivision completed the work in 2019-20 and started drinking water supply trial. For drinking water supply in Nagar Panchayat, intake well has been constructed in village Karelichhoti for water supply from Mahanadi. A filter plant has been constructed near the government college under the city area.
In September 2021, all the three motors installed in the intake well built in Karelichhoti got damaged. Due to which the drinking water supply was stopped in the Nagar Panchayat and a situation of outcry was created in the city. Then a machine was made by the Nagar Panchayat from all the three bad machines.
It took about 15 to 20 days to repair the machine. Since that time till now drinking water is being supplied with difficulty in the same machine in the Nagar Panchayat. Due to the supply of drinking water from a single machine, water comes from taps only for one hour in the morning. Due to which the residents of the city are barely able to survive.
If the water level falls due to the onset of summer season, if drinking water is supplied from the same machine, then the residents of the city will face problems. If the three machines installed in the intake well are not repaired soon, then the residents may have to wander from door to door for water in future.
Information not being received from Nagar Panchayat Magarlod
Out of the three machines installed in the intake well, two machines have been damaged. Drinking water is being supplied to Nagar Panchayat Magarlod Bhainsmundi from the same machine. This information has been given to Nagar Panchayat Magarlod, but attention is not being paid to it.
