Cairo. Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry urged France, which chairs the Council of the European Union, to provide economic and political assistance to Ukraine to deal with the fallout of the crisis. This information has come out from the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt. Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafiz said in a statement that Shoukry made the remarks during a phone conversation with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian, during which they discussed bilateral ties and economic cooperation.
French Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire held talks just days after a visit to Cairo, during which he reaffirmed his country’s full support for Egypt and its willingness to provide the Middle Eastern country with wheat supplies during the crisis.
Egypt is the world’s largest wheat importer and buys most of its wheat from Russia and Ukraine, reports Xinhua news agency.
Earlier on Saturday, Egypt’s foreign minister called on her German counterpart Annalena Barbock, during which they discussed ways to boost bilateral ties and strengthen Egypt economically against the fallout of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
