West Indies vs England, 2nd Test: England captain Joe Root is on the threshold of completing his 10,000 runs in Test cricket. Root has a chance to set this record in the second Test against West Indies at the Kings Oval ground in Barbados. If Root does this, then he will become the first batsman of the modern generation to score 10000 runs in Test cricket. Root is now just 247 runs away from achieving this historic feat. England scored 47 for one in their first innings of the second Test till lunch on Wednesday. Root had scored a century in the last match.
Root is playing the game at lunch, scoring 31 runs off 80 balls with the help of four fours. Along with him, Alex Liege is also unbeaten on 16 runs off 93 balls with the help of two fours. So far 43 runs have been shared for the second wicket between the two batsmen. England’s only wicket fell in the form of Jack Crawley, who returned to the pavilion without opening an account after facing seven balls. He was made his victim by Jordan Sills.
A solid morning session
