The study found that when salt substitutes were consumed, sodium levels in the urine decreased significantly. At the same time, blood pressure reduced as much as it can be reduced by medicine. Dr. Loi, author of the study and professor at the University of Australia, says that low salt intake or consumption of salt substitutes definitely reduces the risk of premature death.
What can you eat as an alternative to salt?
According to WHO guidelines, one should not consume more than 5 grams of salt in a day under any circumstances. Instead of salt, there are many things which are quite salty but they do not contain as much salt as table salt.
