The forest fires in various areas of Uttarakhand have not been extinguished yet. On Sunday, the fire took one more life, taking the death toll to four. Adi Kailash helicopter darshan service has been suspended for the second day due to forest fire. At the same time, due to the smoke coming out of the fire, the arrival of flights at Naini-Saini airport of Pithoragarh has been stopped. Now state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday directed Chief Secretary Radha Raturi to ask all the District Magistrates to monitor the fire every day for a week.
5 deaths so far
A total of 5 people have lost their lives so far due to the fire in the forests of Uttarakhand. Seeing the forest fire coming to the field in Thapli village of Pauri tehsil, the woman had quickly gone to collect a bundle of grass. However, during this time she came under fire. The woman was taken to the hospital but died during treatment. Earlier three laborers had died.
Many people arrested for setting fire
Officials said three people (Brajesh Kumar, Salman and Sukhlal) have been arrested from Bihar on charges of abetting forest fires in the state. According to the police, after going viral on social media platforms, a video surfaced in which three youths were promoting forest fire. Apart from this, the police have also registered a case against four persons for setting fire in the forests.
Hope for relief from rain
According to PTI, Dehradun-based Meteorological Center Director Bikram Singh has said that there is a possibility of rain in the Kumaon region from May 7, while rain will start in the Garhwal region from the 8th. He said that after this, the rainfall activity is likely to increase further from May 11 and this rain will be helpful in extinguishing the forest fire.
How much loss so far?
In the last 24 hours, 24 incidents of fire were reported in the forests of Uttarakhand, due to which 23.75 hectares of forest has been affected. Since November 1 last year, there have been 910 incidents of forest fire in the state, due to which about 1145 hectares of forest has been affected. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has appealed to the public to give their full support to save the forests. (input language)
