The Indian football team suffered a setback on Monday when skipper Sunil Chhetri was ruled out of the international friendly against Bahrain and Belarus due to injury. Coach Iger Stimac also included the 37-year-old’s name in the 38-man probables list. The matches are to be held in Manama on March 23 and 26.
“I was very keen to play friendly matches with Bahrain and Belarus, but now I am out,” All India Football Federation (AIFF) said on the website. The session was very long and tough, with some injuries as well. I am trying to recover from this and can be well soon before May. Eight new faces out of 38 potential players have also been included in the preparatory camp held before the friendly match.
