New Delhi: Former national spokesperson of Congress Rohan Gupta joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday. He had resigned from the primary membership of the party last month, accusing Congress of ‘insult’ and ‘character assassination’. Gupta joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and party general secretary Vinod Tawde during a press conference at the party headquarters here.
Congress had given ticket from Ahmedabad East
Apart from Rohan Gupta, former Punjab IAS officer Parampal Kaur and some other leaders also joined BJP on this occasion. Congress had given ticket to Rohan Gupta from Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha seat but he withdrew his name citing his father’s ill health. A few days later he left the Congress party.
Congress is a directionless party full of contradictions
After nearly 15 years in Congress, Gupta said that it is directionless and full of contradictions, which has reduced its credibility. He mentioned issues like not attending the Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha Samaroh, opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and alliance with parties like Aam Aadmi Party and tried to explain how Congress is full of contradictions. Gupta supported the BJP’s Developed India agenda by 2047 and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Recently, another Congress spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh had also joined BJP.
