Brisbane. The troubles of the former Australian cricketer, who has been in controversies, are not showing signs of diminishing. Michael Slater, who became a commentator after saying goodbye to cricket, has been sent to police custody after facing charges including assault and stalking. Not just one but 19 charges have been leveled against this former cricketer.
According to the Guardian, 54-year-old Slater has been charged with more than a dozen offences, including unlawful stalking or menacing, assault, night-time trespass, assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation. Slater’s case was presented in Queensland’s Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday. He faces a total of 19 charges for alleged offenses on the Sunshine Coast on various dates between December 5 and April 12 last year.
Local police confirmed the arrest of a 54-year-old man from Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast last Friday following ‘several days’ of alleged domestic violence incidents. Earlier in 2023 also, Michael Slater had to go to jail. The former cricketer was found guilty of assaulting his wife. He was arrested for the first time in the year 2021 on charges of domestic violence. A similar case came to light in April 2022 also. Michael Slater was arrested in May 2022 and is also serving his sentence.
Slater has also been charged with 10 counts of breaching bail and breaching a ‘domestic violence order’. Slater, a right-handed former Australian opening batsman, played 74 Test and 42 ODI matches between 1993 and 2003.
