The decline in vehicle sales following the high price of petrol and diesel has forced companies to focus on other fuel options. The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is soon preparing to launch a new CNG variant of its famous compact SUV Maruti Brezza.
At present, the company has a total of 6 models in its CNG portfolio, which is the highest among any other vehicle manufacturer in the Indian market. This includes from the company’s cheapest car Alto to MPV Ertiga, now soon Maruti Brezza is also ready to fill the lane with the company’s fitted CNG kit. Apart from this, the recently launched Celerio will also be launched in CNG variants by the end of this month.
According to the latest media reports, the company is testing its new Brezza CNG and it can be launched in the coming April. On the other hand, there are reports of Swift and DZire sedans also coming in CNG variants. Overall, this year Maruti Suzuki will focus mostly on CNG vehicles. At the same time, some companies are also preparing to launch electric models in the market, in which Hyundai and Mahindra are prominent.
In fact, Maruti Suzuki has stopped production of diesel vehicles and is now looking at CNG, flex-fuel and hybrid powertrains as an alternative. The company will have CNG variants for every model in the near future. The CNG variant is quite economical, it is not only better in mileage but also very less in total cost.
Vitara will be removed from the name:
It is being claimed in the news that Maruti Suzuki will drop the Vitara from the existing Vitara Brezza name and this sub-four meter SUV will be offered only under the name Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Apart from the new CNG kit, the company can also give some more updates to this SUV, including features and design.
In this SUV, the company will use the 1.5-liter capacity K15B petrol engine, which generates power of 104bhp and torque of 138Nm. The company fitted CNG kit will also be given with this engine. Although there is no information about its mileage yet, but the current Ertiga CNG normally gives a mileage of up to 26 kilometers per kg, so better can be expected from the new Brezza CNG.
