The Gujarat Land Prohibition Amendment Bill-2022 was introduced by the state revenue minister Rajendra Trivedi. It states that the word ‘land’ in the principal Act shall not include land in respect of which application for grant of Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act 2006 is pending till the date of commencement of this Act. Huh. Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi said the amendment will protect tribals from any penal action under the Land Grabbing Act if they have already applied for land allotment under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act. Was.
Another important amendment was also regarding the provision for appeal against orders issued by special courts constituted under the proposed Land Possession (Prohibition) Act. The minister said that now the aggrieved persons can file an appeal in the High Court against the orders of the special court within 30 days. This was not in the present Act.
The assembly also passed the Gujarat Organic Agriculture University (Amendment) Bill. In this, it is proposed to change the name of Gujarat Organic Agriculture University to Gujarat University of Natural Farming and Organic Agriculture.
Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel while introducing the Gujarat Organic Agriculture University (Amendment) Bill said that natural farming means chemical-free or conventional farming methods. The central government has also talked about promoting natural farming in this year’s budget. In order to promote the movement of natural farming, we thought it necessary to change the name of the university and add natural farming.
The Gujarat Organic Agriculture University came into existence in 2017 after a bill was passed by the Assembly. Presently this university is being run from Anand Agricultural University campus in Anand city. As per the original Act, the proposed university was to be built at Gandhinagar. Patel said that now under the amendment, a permanent campus of the university will be established in Halol taluka of Panchmahal district.
