The Union Home Ministry has said that the operational capabilities and preparedness of the forces will improve with the implementation of the ‘Modernization Plan-IV’ of the CAPFs. At the same time, it will also have a positive impact on the internal security scenario of the country. It said that under the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah, the ministry will spend Rs 1,523 crore on modernization of forces between February 1, 2022 and March 31, 2026. Under this scheme, modern weapons and equipment will be provided to the CAPFs keeping in mind their operational requirements. Along with this, IT solution will also be upgraded. In fact, the CAPF is deployed in the security of important places of the country.
A statement said that this will increase the government’s ability to deal with the challenges being faced along the International Border, Line of Control, Line of Actual Control. These areas are facing Naxalite, extremist and terrorist threats. CAPFs include CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG and Assam Rifles. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is deployed for internal security and fighting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The Border Security Force (BSF) is deployed for security along the borders with Pakistan, Bangladesh. It also carries out internal security responsibilities.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is guarding vital installations like nuclear installations, airports and metros. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is deployed along the Sino-India border. The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is guarding the borders with Nepal and Bhutan.
Army conducts special military exercise
Meanwhile, the Airborne and Special Forces regiments of the Indian Army also conducted a special military exercise. The soldiers jumped from a height of about 20 thousand feet. During this, the soldiers practiced for immediate response in case of emergency.
