New Delhi. Dr. Subramanian Swamy is an Indian semiologist and politician who serves as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. Swamy has served as a member of the Planning Commission of India and was a cabinet minister in the Chandra Shekhar government. Swami was one of the founding members of the Janata Party. Subramanian Swamy was just 24 years old when he completed his doctorate from Harvard University. After which he researched several projects with Simon Kuznets and Paul Samuelson. and then presented a very innovative and pioneering study of index number theory as joint author with Paul Samuelson.
Subramaniam’s tenure
Subramaniam was one of the founding members of the political party that won the elections after the Emergency. She served as the President of the party from the inception of the party in the year 1990 till 2013, when it merged with the BJP. He was elected to the Lok Sabha five times between 1974 and 1999. Despite being the leader of the opposition, he was made a cabinet minister. He was instrumental in making it possible for Hindus in India to reach Kailash Mansarovar.
