Mumbai Yesterday i.e. on Saturday, there was news that Hardik Pandya has an ankle injury and he will not be able to play in IPL 2024 apart from the home T20 series against Afghanistan from January 1. Now the English newspaper Times of India has reported that the news of Hardik Pandya being injured is not true and his ankle injury has been cured. In such a situation, Hardik is said to be fit to play against Afghanistan and in the IPL. Sources close to Hardik Pandya told the newspaper that the Mumbai Indians captain’s injury has completely recovered and he is currently undergoing training. Mumbai Indians recently acquired Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans. Mumbai Indians had also paid Rs 15 crore to get Hardik from Gujarat Titans.
Along with taking Hardik in the team, Mumbai Indians had also announced to give him the captaincy. Earlier, the captaincy of Mumbai Indians was with Rohit Sharma. There was a discussion on social media regarding whether Rohit Sharma will play for Mumbai Indians under the leadership of Hardik or not. However, till now there has been no response from Rohit in this regard. Hardik Pandya was in India’s World Cup squad and suffered an ankle injury during the match against Bangladesh. Due to this injury, Hardik Pandya was out of the remaining matches of the World Cup as well as the home series against Australia and then the Indian team’s current tour of South Africa.
Hardik’s sources told Times of India that Pandya is fit and is working out daily. There is still time for IPL 2024 and people close to Hardik say that the news floating about him not playing in it are just rumours. BCCI sources also say that Hardik Pandya will be fit soon and will definitely take the field in IPL also. Recently, on December 9, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had also told the media that there is full scope for Hardik Pandya to play in the T20 home series against Afghanistan. Jay Shah had told that BCCI is keeping an eye on Hardik’s fitness.
