New Delhi. Global NCAP’s #SaferCarsForIndia initiative has played a vital role in driving the Indian automotive industry towards sustained growth. With the increasing demand of consumers, companies are working diligently to meet the growing needs of the market. Recently, there has been a significant emphasis on safety in the automotive sector, leading to increased awareness among users about crash safety ratings.
2023 New achievements in crash testing
In the latest round of crash testing conducted by Global NCAP in 2023, five cars excelled, not only meeting but exceeding the stringent safety standards set by Global NCAP.
Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Slavia:
Both the Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Slavia sedans received 5-star safety ratings in the Global NCAP crash test. These vehicles are part of the manufacturer’s India 2.0 strategy and are built on the MQB-A0-IN platform. This platform is also used for the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq, both of which have also achieved 5-star ratings in crash tests.
Hyundai Verna:
Hyundai’s new Verna achieved a remarkable 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test, marking a significant milestone as the first Hyundai car in India to achieve such a high safety rating. The new generation Verna, launched in the Indian market this year, has been doing well in terms of sales, and its safety further adds to its appeal.
Tata Safari and Tata Harrier
Tata Motors began its focus on safe cars in India with the launch of the Nexon, which has now become a landmark for the company in the automotive industry. Despite delays in crash testing of the Harrier and Safari models, Tata Motors, along with the new versions, subjected them to the Global NCAP test, where both models achieved top ratings. Additionally, the Harrier and Safari made history by becoming the first Indian cars to feature in Global NCAP crash testing, both of which are SUVs built on the Omega architecture platform shared with Land Rover.
