The Punjab-Haryana High Court has given relief to Kumar Vishwas for his statement against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The court has stayed the arrest of Vishwas. A case was registered against him in Ropar, Punjab. Vishwas is accused of making false allegations of Kejriwal’s links with Khalistan.
Kumar Vishwas had filed a petition saying that the case registered against him was a gross abuse of the process of law and was politically motivated. He said that the way the investigating agency is proceeding, it is clear that it is trying to curtail the liberty of the petitioner by adopting a procedure which has nothing to do with the law.
Police reached Kumar Vishwas’s house on April 20
A case was registered against Vishwas on April 12 at Sadar police station in Rupnagar in Punjab. Vishwas had accused Kejriwal of supporting separatists ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections. The Punjab Police had reached Vishwas’s house in Ghaziabad on April 20 and had summoned him for questioning.
Alleged AAP’s affiliation with separatist elements
The complainant claimed that when he was walking in the villages with AAP supporters to redress the grievances of the people, some unidentified masked men stopped him and called him Khalistani.
