Huge uproar in Rajya Sabha over Birbhum issue
BJP’s Roopa Ganguly mentioned the incident of burning of eight people in West Bengal’s Birbhum district in Rajya Sabha today, which was strongly opposed by Trinamool Congress members, creating a huge uproar and ruckus. Due to this the proceedings of the House were adjourned for about 15 minutes. As soon as Ganguly mentioned the incident of burning of eight people in Birbhum during the zero period, Trinamool Congress members started vehemently opposing it from their seat. After this, the members of BJP also started opposing the Trinamool Congress from their seat, due to which there was a lot of noise and uproar.
During this Ganguly became emotional and started crying. During this, slogans were also raised against each other from both the sides. Ganguly said that first people were beaten up and then they were tied up and burnt. He said that Bengal is the land of Dakshineswar Mahakali and people have the right to live there too. Later, Trinamool Congress members came in the middle of the House and started raising slogans. Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman Harivansh called out the names of the members for special mention but due to the noise, nothing could be heard. As the commotion escalated, the Deputy Speaker adjourned the house at 11:55 am till 12:10 pm.
