Kyiv. On February 24, Ukraine and Russia conducted a prisoner swap for the first time since waging war against Kyiv. This information was given by Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk.
In a Facebook post, Xinhua news agency quoted Vereshchuk as saying that the Russian army and the Ukrainian army have captured prisoners of war from each other’s countries, in which the two countries are now swapping 10 soldiers.
In addition, Ukraine handed over 11 civilian Russian sailors who had been rescued from a sunken ship near Odessa to Russia in exchange for 19 Ukrainian civilian sailors.
“The rescue ship will also be returned to Ukraine and sent to port in Turkey under the terms of the exchange.”
