While the country’s leading two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp is among the world’s largest automakers, the company has registered its highest sales in global markets outside India in any calendar year, achieving a new milestone. According to the information received, the company has sold 2.89 lakh units of motorcycles and scooters in its markets spread across Asia, Africa, South and Central America and the Caribbean in the calendar year 2021 (between January and December). Which is 71 percent more than the corresponding period last year.
The company will introduce its first electric vehicle in March
Let us inform that in 2020, the company sold 1.69 lakh units in its markets outside India. To add to its sales, the company is set to launch its first electric vehicle (EV) in the month of March, which will be manufactured at the company’s manufacturing facility in Chittoor in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

You must remember that Hero MotoCorp has officially announced the launch of a new electric scooter by March 2022, after the launch of this scooter in the Indian market, Ola S1, Simple One, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak and others. Scooters will compete. Hero is working with Gogoro on several new products including EV Sharing Battery technology to manufacture EV scooter batteries.
Hero sales decreased in India
In terms of domestic sales, Hero reported a 12 percent decline in domestic sales last month to 3,74,485 units as compared to 4,25,033 units in December 2020. Last month, motorcycle sales were down 9 percent at 3,76,862 units as compared to 4,15,099 units in December 2020. On the other hand, scooter sales also declined to 17,911 units as against 32,236 units in the month of December a year ago.
