Bangalore. A Karnataka High Court bench headed by Chief Justice Rituraj Awasthi will pronounce the verdict on the hijab issue on Tuesday morning.
The matter has been listed in the first half of the day.
A three-judge bench comprising Justice Krishna S. Dixit and Justice Khaji Jayabunnesa Mohiuddin had reserved the judgment on the matter after hearing the arguments and arguments.
Six girl students of Udupi Pre-University College were barred from entering classes wearing hijab. The girl students started protesting against it and the protest spread to other districts as well. This became a major controversy and even tension arose as some Hindu girl students came to the college wearing saffron shawls.
The girl students approached the High Court and demanded that they be allowed to enter the classroom wearing hijab. When the High Court issued an interim order that wearing of hijab or saffron shawls cannot be allowed in schools and colleges, the petitioners challenged it in the Supreme Court. However, the top court refused to hear the matter and asked the petitioners to seek relief from the high court itself.
