New Delhi. Honda Motors, one of the largest Japanese automobile companies, is well aware of the growing popularity of electric vehicles, especially electric scooters, in India. Due to this, the company will soon launch its affordable electric scooter Benly e in the country. The company first introduced this electric scooter at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show in 2019. Although its glimpse has already been seen in India too. In June this year, this electric scooter was seen in Pune during testing. In such a situation, soon this Benly e is likely to be launched in the Indian market.
‘Made in India’ battery will be used
A special feature of the Indian edition of the Benly e will also be that it will use ‘Made in India’ battery. In a press release on Thursday, Honda said that the company has set up a ‘Battery Sharing Service Subsidiary’ at a cost of Rs 135 crore in the country to provide battery sharing facility for small electric vehicles in the country. Under this, in the first half of 2022, the battery sharing service will be started in Bengaluru, Karnataka and then gradually across the country. Along with this, the ‘Honda Mobile Power Pack E’ which will be provided to the subscribers under the Battery Sharing Service Subsidiary, will be manufactured in India. The same ‘Honda Mobile Power Pack E’ will be used in the Benly e.
will be budget friendly
The company has not yet given any information about the price of this electric scooter in India. But according to a report this scooter can be budget friendly.
Design and Features
The Benly e can be offered in Benly e I, Benly e I Pro, Benly e II and Benly e II Pro 4 trims. The Benly e has been given a sporty look with a bright white color and a black color touch with it, which makes the scooter stylish. In addition, it will get LED headlights and taillights, digital dashboard, reverse assist position and many other great features.
Powertrain and Range
All the four trims of the Benly e will be offered with different motors. The Benly e I and I Pro will use a 2.8 kW motor, which will generate 3.8bhp power and 13Nm torque. On the other hand, the Benly e II and II Pro will use a 4.2 kW motor, which will generate 5.7bhp power and 15Nm torque. Benly e I and I Pro will get a range of 87 kms in single charging and 43 kms for Benly e II and II Pro.
