A man killed his 40-year-old wife in Bhayandar township of Maharashtra’s Thane district, allegedly because the breakfast served to her was high in salt. The police gave this information on Saturday. He said that the incident took place on Friday morning in Bhayandar East’s Phatak Road area. Police have arrested the accused.
An official of Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar Police Commissionerate said that the accused person has been identified as 46-year-old Nilesh Ghagh. Police said that the accused strangled his wife Nirmala to death at around 9.30 am after having breakfast.
Police said that the accused was upset over the excess salt in the ‘khichdi’ served by the wife. The accused killed his wife by strangling her clothes. After getting the information, the police reached the spot and sent the body of the woman to the local government hospital for post-mortem.
A case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused at Navghar police station, Bhayandar.

It is worth noting that a similar incident took place on Thursday where the daughter-in-law was allegedly shot dead by the angry father-in-law for not serving breakfast along with tea on time. The 42-year-old woman, a resident of Rabodi area, sustained bullet injury in the stomach and died during treatment at a private hospital on Friday morning, police said.
