Rampur. Former MP and actress Jaya Prada appeared in the MP-MLA court of Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday to record her statement in two cases related to violation of the election code of conduct. The court has scheduled the next hearing of the case on March 22.
After coming out of the court, Jaya Prada said, ‘I recorded my statement in the court and told the court that I have not done anything wrong. I don’t know if any photo-video has been taken unknowingly. I did not do anything wrong intentionally. I will not do anything like this in future also.
Former MP Jayaprada said, ‘As per the court order, I appeared in the court on March 6. With all due respect I say that I never tried to disobey the court. I made no attempt to run away. Due to ill health I could not come to the court.
Prosecution officer Neeraj Kumar said, ‘Former MP Jaya Prada along with her lawyers appeared before Special MP-MLA Court Magistrate Shobhit Bansal and recorded her statement in cases of violation of election code of conduct. The next hearing of the case will be on March 22.
Two cases of code of conduct violation were registered against Jayaprada during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In these cases, the court had issued summons several times before but the former MP did not appear in the court. After this, non-bailable warrants were issued against him seven times, but the police could not present him in the court.

The court had given conditional bail
On February 27, when Jayaprada did not appear in the court despite repeated summons and warrants being issued, the court declared Jayaprada absconding and directed the police to arrest her and present her before it on March 6. However, Jaya Prada appeared in the court with her advocate on March 4, on which the court granted her conditional bail.
Actress Jayaprada had contested the 2019 elections from Rampur on BJP ticket but had to face defeat from SP candidate Azam Khan. She was elected to the Lok Sabha from Rampur on Samajwadi Party ticket in 2004 and 2009.
