In India, 6 airbags have been made mandatory for every vehicle recently, according to the new draft of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, it is mandatory for car manufacturers to introduce at least six airbags in cars. This new rule is expected to come into effect from October this year, with the implementation of this new rule, your safety will remain intact, but there is no guarantee of your vehicle. Yes, you can save your life in an accident, but you can lose your vehicle completely.
your car is not safe
What if the feature of airbags starts being included on the exteriors of the cars as well. Actually, German car parts maker ZF has designed a similar airbag. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is set to toughen its side-impact crash test, with Tier 1 ZF highlighting on Wednesday a prototype of an external airbag intended to put out fires before a crash.
The company predicts that these airbags can cut injuries from side-impact crashes by 40% and “damage from colliding vehicles by up to 30 percent, and prevent the car’s side profile from being completely damaged.” The video shows that if someone hits the car from the front or rear, the exterior of the car is protected, due to the airbags present behind each tyre. However, such airbags take a long time to arrive in India. It may seem, as such features increase the cost of the vehicle, and we Indians keep looking for cheaper alternatives.

6 airbags mandatory from October
At present, 6 airbags will be made mandatory in vehicles from October 2022. As per the draft released, M1 class vehicles manufactured after October 1, 2022 will be equipped with two side/side torso air bags. This new rule could spell trouble for car makers, as the industry has been struggling for the past few years due to the pandemic and raw material prices and operating costs have also gone up in the last few years. At the same time, strict emission and safety norms have also led to an increase in prices. Price will be one of the main challenges that automakers will face while implementing this new rule.
