Many students who study all night take 5-6 hours of sleep a day. But, is it right to do so? Ayurvedic doctor told that sleeping during day is very harmful according to Ayurveda. This habit invites diseases like sugar and cancer.
Ayurvedic Dr. VK Pandey (BAMS from Vinoba Bhave University and more than 25 years of experience) from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, told Local 18 that sleeping during the day is absolutely wrong according to Ayurveda. You can definitely rest for half an hour after eating. But if you sleep even 10 minutes more after half an hour, your health is adversely affected. There is a big reason behind this.
What happens if you sleep during the day?
Dr. VK Pandey told Local 18 that in Ayurveda, people have been advised to follow nature. Day means you have to wake up and work. Night means you have to sleep, understand that whoever tampers with the cycle of nature will only invite disease. Because, Pitta (fire element of the body) remains at its peak during the day.
That’s why you shouldn’t sleep
The doctor further said that in such a situation, when one sleeps during the day, the bile in the body becomes imbalanced. Fire element dominates during the day, so you will be able to work. Energy is needed to work and when you sleep, this energy becomes unbalanced in the body. Its effect comes directly on the liver. Because, this energy is obtained from the liver only. You will have difficulty digesting food. You may suffer from constipation and acidity.

Also, if a person stays awake all night, there is phlegm imbalance in his body. As soon as the Kapha balance deteriorates, you face problems like cold, cough, headache all the time, irritability etc. If a person follows such a routine for a long time, it can lead to diabetes and later on, diseases like cancer and obesity. Because it affects your body cells. He further said that try to rest only for half an hour after having lunch in the afternoon, not more than that.
