The police officer said that Barkha had an argument with her second husband, allegedly over a love affair with a man. Barkha’s father, who was present during the fight, slapped her. The officer said that in anger, Barkha threw a match stick at her father’s hut. Due to the jute sacks in it, the kutcha house started burning. He said that a detailed inquiry is being conducted into the incident of arson.

According to Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra, the matter is of a slum in Rajendra Nagar area. The accused Barkha Meda (25) has been arrested in the case. He told that during a family dispute, Barkha got angry and set the hut on fire. In it his brother’s two daughters – Nandu (four years old) and Muskaan (six years) were sleeping. Mishra said that as soon as the fire was reported, the fire brigade reached the spot and started efforts to extinguish the fire. He himself reached the spot, but before that both the girls were burnt alive. The police commissioner said that the parents of the girls had gone to work at the time of the arson.
