The T20 series between India and Sri Lanka is starting from Thursday. The first match will be played tomorrow at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Earlier, the Sri Lankan team has suffered a setback. Mystery spinner Vanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the T20I series. He has not yet returned from Australia.
Hasranga found infected on Australian tour
Actually, the Sri Lankan team went on a tour of Australia this month for the five-match T20 series. In the middle of this series, Hasranga Corona was found infected. Because of this, he could not even play three matches against Australia. Hasaranga was immediately isolated from Canberra in Melbourne. The rest of the Sri Lankan players returned after the series, but Hasaranga remained in Melbourne.
Hasranga got corona infected again on Tuesday
Hasranga had to bring a negative report to get out of Australia, but after the test on Tuesday, his corona report has come positive once again. Hasranga was first found infected on 15 February.
Hasranga’s absence is a setback for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka has suffered a setback due to the absence of Hasranga. This is because the last time India and Sri Lanka met in 2021, Hasaranga played a key role in the 2-1 win and was the player of the series. He took a total of seven wickets in three matches. Hasaranga has also been bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in this year’s IPL auction for Rs 10.75 crore.
India and Sri Lanka series schedule
Sri Lankan team will play three T20 and two test matches on the tour of India. The first T20 match will be played in Lucknow on 24 February. After this, two T20 matches will be played in Dharamsala on 26 and 27 February. The Test series will begin in Mohali. The first match will be played from March 4 to March 8. After this, the second and final Test will be held in Bengaluru from March 12 to 16.
