The Corps Commander-level talks have started with the aim of normalizing the tense situation between India and China on the Ladakh border. This negotiation is of the 16th round. In this dialogue, there will be talk on normalizing the relations between the two countries regarding the border dispute. It is believed that India will put pressure on Depsang and Demchok issues to be resolved and all remaining friction points to withdraw troops at the earliest.
Let us tell you that India has been of the belief that peace on the border is necessary for progress in bilateral relations. News18 quoted official sources as saying that the talks from the Indian side at the Chushul Moldo meeting place were about to start at around 9.30 am. According to sources, talks are on to establish peace along the LAC in eastern Ladakh.
The Indian side is led by Leh-based 14 Corps Commander Lt-General Anindya Sengupta, while the Chinese side is led by South Xinjiang Military District Chief Major General Yang Lin. Significantly, the last round of talks between the armies of the two countries was held on March 11. But there was no concrete result in it.
Regarding this new round of talks, it is reported that the Indian side will press for the withdrawal of troops at the earliest at all remaining conflict points, apart from demanding resolution of the issues in Depsang Bulge and Demchok. Let us inform that in the talks held in Bali between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi last week, the issue of dispute related to Eastern Ladakh had figured prominently. In this dialogue, India had told the need to resolve the border dispute soon.
Beginning of the dispute: The border dispute in eastern Ladakh began on 5 May 2020 after the violent clash between the armies of India and China in the Pangong Lake area. After the skirmish, both the countries deployed fifty thousand to sixty thousand soldiers with heavy weapons.
