After vacating the bungalow allotted to late Ram Vilas Paswan, father of Lok Sabha MP Chirag Paswan, the Central Government allotted the bungalow 27 Safdarjung Road to the country’s former Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, has made full preparations to vacate this bungalow last year. Jyotiraditya Scindia, who became the Union Aviation Minister during the expansion, has been allotted. A source associated with the Directorate of Estates informed that the bungalow will start vacating from Monday. Now Pokhriyal is no longer a minister, so now he cannot be given a Type VIII bungalow.
The special connection of the bungalow with Scindia: The Scindia family has a special relationship with the 27 Safdarjung Road, bungalow located in Lutyens’ Zone of Delhi. For a long time this bungalow was with the father of late Madhavrao Scindia, father of Jyotiraditya Scindia. This bungalow was given to him by the Congress government when he was a minister in the central government. Till 2019, Scindia was in this bungalow but after defeating the Lok Sabha elections, the government got him vacated from this bungalow.
When Scindia left the Congress and joined the BJP and took over the post of minister at the center, he was asked by the central government to choose one of the three bungalows but he demanded the central government to allot 27 Safdarjung Road bungalow, but at that time Former education minister Pokhriyal lived in this bungalow. Due to this, Scindia decided to stay in his private residence Anand Lok in Delhi.
A senior official of Directorate of Estates said that Ramesh Pokhriyal has been living in 27 Safdar Jung in the last few years, but now he is no longer a minister at the Centre. He has been allotted a new house at 2, Tughlaq Lane. On Monday, a team will be sent to vacate the bungalow.
Sources have informed that notices have been issued to Pokhriyal many times by the department but till now he has not vacated this bungalow. A letter was also written on his behalf to stay in the bungalow but he was not allowed.
