What the party said- In the suspension letter, the party’s Central Disciplinary Committee wrote- “You have expressed contrary views on various matters to the party’s position… For further investigation, you have been suspended from the party with immediate effect and from your responsibilities goes.”

BJP had given clarification – In fact, as soon as Nupur Sharma’s statements started connecting with the Kanpur riots, BJP started getting uncomfortable. FIR has been done- Mumbai Police has also registered an FIR against Nupur Sharma based on the complaint of Irfan Sheikh, Joint Secretary, Mumbai Wing of Raza Academy. It states that Nupur Sharma has allegedly made derogatory remarks about the Prophet in a TV debate on the Gyanvapi issue. Although Nupur Sharma has been denying this.
What happened in Kanpur- A Muslim organization in Kanpur had called for the closure of shops in protest against Nupur Sharma’s remarks. Meanwhile, violence broke out between the two parties over the closure of the shop. According to police, at least 40 people, including 20 policemen, were injured in these clashes.
