Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a special gift to his visiting Japanese counterpart in India. This gift is ‘Krishna Pankhi’. On Saturday (March 19, 2022), Modi gifted ‘Krishna Pankhi’ to Japanese PM Fumio Kishida. The special thing is that it is made of sandalwood. Along with this, various postures of Lord Krishna have been shown through artistic figures on its sides.
Official sources were quoted as saying by news agency PTI that this ‘feather’ has been engraved using traditional tools, while its upper part has a hand-carved figure of a peacock, which is the national bird of India.
This ‘Krishna Pankhi’ is made by skilled craftsmen of Churu district of Rajasthan. This artwork is made of pure sandalwood wood, which is mainly found in the forests of southern parts of India. In fact, the Japanese PM is on a visit to India to attend the 14th India-Japan Annual Summit.

Later, it also announced an investment target of five trillion yen (Rs 3,20,000 crore) in India over the next five years. The announcement is in line with the Investment Promotion Partnership of 2014, when the two sides agreed to a Japanese investment of 3.5 trillion yen from 2014 to 2019. The two sides signed six agreements to expand bilateral cooperation in several areas, besides strengthening a separate clean energy partnership.
At the same time, while jointly addressing the media, Modi said, “The deepening of India-Japan partnership is not only important for both the countries, but it will also lead to peace, prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and at the level of the whole world.” According to Modi, the world is still grappling with COVID-19 and its side effects. There are still obstacles in the process of getting the global economy back on track. At the same time, geopolitical events are also presenting new challenges.
