Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Gujarat from June 17-18. During this, PM Modi will inaugurate the redeveloped Kalika Mata temple atop Pavagadh hill in Panchmahal district on June 18. Significantly, an 11th-century dargah has been shifted nearby for the summit of the temple. In such a situation, the redevelopment of the temple and the dargah at the same place is a unique example of communal harmony in itself.
The temple trust says that there is a shikhara in the temple, where earlier there was Pir Dargah of Hazrat Sadanshah. It was later shifted to a nearby location during redevelopment. Let us tell you that this was done due to the friendly agreement between Hindus and Muslims. During the inauguration here, PM Modi will unfurl the flag of the Red and Golden Temple.
A trust member told The Indian Express on the condition of anonymity, “The most challenging was to move the dargah during the redevelopment work up the hill. As per the agreement, we also rebuilt the dargah.” The temple and the dargah were rebuilt under the supervision of Ahmedabad-based architect Ashish Sompura. Ram temple is being constructed in Ayodhya under his supervision. The temple has been closed for the general public before the visit of PM Modi.
There is a belief about this place that the right toe of Mother Sati had fallen here. Therefore, this temple is worshiped by the people of Hindu religion as Shaktipeeth. The Rajput kings also used to hoist the flag here. It has been described as the only ‘complete and unchanged Islamic pre-Mughal city’. According to the trust, in the 15th century, Sultan Mahmud Begada conquered Champaner and established it as his capital and destroyed the spire of the temple. The Dargah was built at the same time.
Explain that about 3,600 cubic feet of Bansi Paharpur red sandstone from Rajasthan was used in the redevelopment of the temple. The same stone is being used for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The important thing is that the dargah was also built with the same stones.
