The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday questioned former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi for three hours in a money laundering case related to the National Herald. At the same time, Priyanka Gandhi’s husband Robert Vadra said that Rahul Gandhi will undoubtedly be acquitted and truth will prevail. He termed the allegations of money laundering against Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi as baseless.
Vadra said that the opposition questions the Centre, so this action of the central probe agency is being taken to harass them. While talking to private news channel NDTV, Vadra described his experience regarding the ED investigation, terming the case as a ‘witch-hunt’.
He said, “I was also called 15 times for questioning. I was also questioned for 10-12 hours in a day. I have faced such harassment since this government came to power. Answered the same question multiple times during interrogation. Vadra said that when elections are held or the government seems to be surrounded on some issue, the Center does all this.
He said that they use my name and my family’s name to suppress the opposition’s questions and hide their own issues. Along with this, Vadra claimed that even after answering all the questions, many people have left the country due to the persecution on the part of the government.
He said that even the ED officials consider it unnecessary to call someone to their office and keep them in custody for a long time. Vadra said that Rahul Gandhi is getting the support of the people as they look up to him with the hope of fighting for their rights.
Significantly, Rahul Gandhi was summoned by the ED on Monday for questioning in the money laundering case related to the National Herald-AJL case. During this, the ED questioned him for about three hours. In the same case, ED has called Sonia Gandhi for questioning on June 23.
