Protests were held in many states across the country on Friday demanding action against Nupur Sharma after the Nawaz of Jume. Incidents of violence also took place during the protests and objectionable slogans were also raised at many places. At the same time, in many states, the police had to lathi-charge to control the situation. In Jharkhand, the police also fired in the air to bring the situation under control. At the same time, SP and AIMIM MPs have demanded the arrest of Nupur Sharma.
Samajwadi Party MP Shafiqur Rahman Burke said, “Those who are protesting are doing it on their own accord and are doing it everywhere according to their feelings. Now the government should think that why is this happening? No action is taken against those who are disturbing the atmosphere, but action is being taken against those who are protesting. This is unfair. Stone pelting is not good but what a man does is compulsion. Stone pelting has happened from both the sides but it is not right to criminalize Muslims alone. The delay in his arrest has led to violence.”
At the same time, the AIMIM MP demanded the hanging. AIMIM MP from Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Imtiaz Jaleel said, “Islam is a religion of peace, people are angry. Nupur Sharma should be hanged. If he was let go easily, such things would not stop. A law should be brought to take action against those who make such remarks against any religion, sect.”
On the other hand, regarding the protest at Delhi’s Jama Masjid, DCP Central District Shweta Chauhan said, “In view of yesterday’s protest at Jama Masjid over provocative remarks by suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma and expelled leader Naveen Jindal under Section 188 of IPC. A case was registered against unknown people. The protesters are being identified.”
Independent MP Navneet Rana said on Nupur Sharma controversy that Nupur Sharma has taken apology and the party has also taken action against her. But why is this violence happening now? Violence is being done for political gains.
At the same time, Uttar Pradesh’s ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that so far 227 people involved in the violence in UP have been arrested. People have been arrested from Moradabad, Hathras, Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Firozabad and Ambedkar Nagar.
