The Congress party has been given a notice to vacate the government bungalow in Chanakyapuri, Delhi. The Ministry of Urban and Housing has issued this notice. This notice was sent only on 25 March. It was said in the notice that notice is given to vacate this bungalow. Even after the cancellation of the allotment on 26 June 2013, the party continues to occupy the bungalow. Presently the secretary of Congress President Sonia Gandhi resides in this bungalow.
According to a report in The Hindu, a ministry official said the party has been allotted four government bungalows, including 24 Akbar Road, with one as the national party office. In accordance with the policy of the Office of Land and Development, Congress was allotted land in 2010 to build its office on Rouse Avenue. Three years later, the Congress party was asked to vacate any government bungalows that were given as offices.
At the same time, a senior Congress leader familiar with the entire development said that the party had received such notices in the past as well and the party is in the process of vacating Chanakyapuri’s house. At a time when political parties are getting instructions to vacate all government bungalows from Chanakyapuri, the Bharatiya Janata Party may also have to leave the bungalow allotted at 11 Ashoka Road. An official said that a damage fee of about Rs 3 crore could be imposed on the Congress for overstaying in Chanakyapuri.
Chirag Paswan also had to leave the bungalow: Recently, Ram Vilas Paswan’s son and MP Chirag Paswan also had to leave his 32-year-old government residence. Please tell that this house was allotted to Ram Vilas Paswan. Being a senior union minister, he was allotted a very big house, but after his death, Chirag Paswan had to leave the house and now he will have to shift to the MP flat.
Relief from court to Sharad Yadav: At the same time, Sharad Yadav has got relief from the Supreme Court in the matter of leaving the bungalow. In fact, Sharad Yadav had reached the Supreme Court and appealed to the court that his health was not good and for this reason he should not be asked to leave the bungalow immediately. The Supreme Court has given Sharad Yadav time till May 31, 2022 to leave the bungalow.
