India has started evacuation operation from today for Indian citizens living in Ukraine and adjoining areas, amidst deepening fears of attack on Ukraine. A special Air India aircraft has been dispatched to Ukraine this morning. India has deployed more than 200-seater Dreamliner B-787 aircraft for this special mission. This flight will return to the country with 256 Indian students from Kharkiv, Ukraine. According to the information, the flight will return to the country at 10.15 pm tonight. Meanwhile, in view of the high level tension in Ukraine, India has decided to operate additional flights. According to the Indian Embassy in Ukraine, additional flights from Kiev to Delhi will operate on February 25, February 27 (two flights) and March 6, 2022.
More than 20 thousand students and citizens are trapped in Ukraine
More than 20 thousand students and citizens of India are trapped in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. TS Tirumurti, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Security Council, said that more than 20 thousand Indian students live in Ukraine and its surrounding areas. The safety of these students and Indian citizens is our priority. At the same time, India insists on intensifying diplomatic efforts with both sides exercising restraint.
