On Monday, India successfully test-fired Lone Range Supersonic Missile Assisted Torpedo (SMART) off the Balasore seashore in Odisha. DRDO says that this system has been designed to enhance the anti-sub marine warfare capability by going beyond the conventional range of torpedoes. Defense Minister of India Rajnath Singh also congratulated DRDO for the successful test of SMART.

Rajnath Singh said that stand-off capability can become a key technology in anti-submarine warfare. He congratulates DRDO and all others for this important achievement. SMART is a supersonic anti-ship missile made of hybrid technology. Which is intended as a payload in the form of medium-weight torpedoes. Apart from this, it will also work as a supersonic anti-submarine missile. It can easily hit a mark of up to 650 km. Due to the successful test of SMART, the capability of the Navy will also increase even more.
