New Delhi. Regarding America’s rhetoric regarding the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, India has bluntly said that interference in our sovereignty in any way is not acceptable. India is proud of its democratic institutions. America had earlier also made statements regarding the arrest of Kejriwal, on which India had summoned the American diplomat a day earlier on Wednesday. But despite India’s strong objection, America once again made statements on this.
On the second statement from America on the Kejriwal issue, the Indian Foreign Ministry said that India has already expressed objection to America’s statement. America’s latest statement is undesirable, it cannot be accepted. The justice system in India is independent. The Foreign Ministry said that interference in our sovereignty in any way is not acceptable to us. India is proud of its democratic institutions.
Earlier, in the matter of Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in the press briefing on Wednesday night that we stand firm on our stand. This should not cause any problem to anyone. We hope that the legal process in the case will be completed in a fair, transparent and timely manner. America had also given a statement on Tuesday regarding the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. America had said that our government is keeping an eye on the case of Kejriwal’s arrest. There should be an impartial investigation into this. During this time the values of law and democracy should be followed. India’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned American diplomat Gloria Barbena in this matter. The ministry had said that the statement of the US State Department spokesperson on legal action in India is wrong. In diplomacy, it is expected that countries will respect each other’s internal issues and sovereignty. If two countries are democratic then this expectation increases, otherwise a situation of chaos may arise.
