Tehran. Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi said all foreign forces should exit Syria “immediately and unconditionally”. This information has come out from the report of Iranian State TV. Addressing a session of the UN Security Council on Thursday, an Iranian diplomat accused foreign powers in Syria of plundering the war-ravaged country’s natural resources and violating Syria’s sovereignty, UN resolutions and the UN Charter.
“Therefore, all captured and uninvited foreign forces, including US troops, must leave the country immediately without any preconditions.”
He also condemned the Israeli airstrike on Damascus on March 7 and said the attack on the Syrian capital was a gross violation of international humanitarian law, Xinhua news agency reported.
Takht-Ravanchi also pointed to the disastrous consequences of Western sanctions on all aspects of the lives of the Syrian people.
Iran has been a key ally of the Syrian government in the fight against armed rebels since 2011.
