There is a threat of no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in Pakistan. Meanwhile, on Saturday, he changed the name of the Prime Minister’s Office’s YouTube channel to ‘Imran Khan’. Now the special thing is that this move of PM Khan is being seen as a sign of his resignation. However, Khan has made it clear that he will not step down. Here, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has organized a rally in Islamabad on Sunday as a show of strength.
With the news of changing the name of the YouTube channel, there has been speculation that Khan may step down from the post on Sunday. PTI tweeted about Khan, ‘I want my people to come to the parade ground tomorrow. Tomorrow we will show the sea of people!’ Recently, Khan also released a video on Twitter, in which he appealed to the people to join the rally. In this video, he targeted the opposition fiercely and called them ‘dacoit’.
The date of discussion on the no-confidence motion extended
The no-confidence motion against PM Khan was to be moved on March 25, but the session of the National Assembly was adjourned on Friday. It is now expected that the PM may face a no-confidence motion next week. The opposition parties are accusing Khan of worsening the country’s economic condition, inflation and poor governance.
In the 342-member National Assembly, Khan needs 172 votes to save the government. At present, PTI has 155 members and has the support of 23 members from at least six parties. On March 8, around 100 MPs from opposition parties had filed a no-confidence motion.
So will Khan not quit?
On Wednesday, Khan said he would not resign at any cost. He also claimed that he is going to surprise the opposition. The PM said, ‘I will not resign under any circumstances. I will play till the last ball and I will surprise them the day before because they are still under pressure. He claimed that the opposition has opened all its cards, but the no-confidence motion against him will not succeed.
