Islamabad. In Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police have killed an Islamic State-linked terrorist commander during a raid in the provincial capital of Peshawar. The counter-terrorism department of the police on Thursday raided the hideout of the terrorist who opened fire on the police, Xinhua news agency reported.
Sources said the terrorist was killed during the exchange of fire while his accomplice managed to escape.
Sources said the terrorist was a local commander of the Islamic State terror group, who was involved in several terrorist activities including the recent attack on a mosque in Peshawar. Dozens of people were killed and hundreds of others were injured.
Sources said the terrorist was also involved in the killing of a cleric and policemen besides other incidents of targeted killings.
Search is on for the accomplice of the fleeing terrorist.
