Jerusalem: Israel has given a big warning to Iran before the attack. Israel has said that if Iran attacks us, we too will not remain silent. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made direct threats to Iran several times before. Now Israeli Foreign Minister Kartz threatened on Wednesday that if Iran attacks Israel from its soil, then his country’s army will also directly target the Islamic Republic. Israel’s statement comes at a time when tensions between the two traditional rivals have increased after the death of its general in the attack on Iran’s consulate in Syria.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in a post in Hebrew and Persian on the social media platform ‘X’, “If Iran attacks its territory, Israel will also respond and attack Iran.” This came after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s statement on Wednesday. Khamenei reiterated that Israel would respond to the attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus earlier this month. Iran is blaming Israel for the attack in Damascus. In this attack the Consulate building was razed to the ground and 12 people were killed. Israel has not admitted involvement in the attack, although it is preparing to deal with an Iranian response to the attack.
Proxy war going on between Israel and Iran
A proxy war has been going on between Israel and Iran for a long time and after this incident the tension between the two has increased further. Khamenei, speaking at a prayer ceremony marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, said the airstrike was a “wrong act” and tantamount to an attack on Iranian soil. His speech was broadcast on Iran’s government channel. “The satanic regime must and will be punished,” he said. However, neither Katz nor Khamenei elaborated on how they would respond. The April 1 blast in the Syrian capital killed 12 people, including seven Iranian Revolutionary Guard members, four Syrians and one member of the Hezbollah militia. (AP)
