Remembering his first wife on his social media platform, Donald Trump wrote, “She was a wonderful, beautiful woman who led a great and inspirational life. His three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric were his pride and joy. He was as proud of them as we were all proud of. Rest in peace, Ivana.”
On the death of her mother, Ivanka Trump tweeted and wrote, “Saddened by the passing of mother. Mother was brilliant, charming, passionate and funny. He lived life to the fullest and never missed an opportunity to laugh and dance. I will always remember him and will always keep his memory alive in our hearts.”
Ivana Trump grew up in former Czechoslovakia during the Communist regime. Ivana Trump’s father was an electrical engineer, while her mother worked as a telephone operator. Ivana was part of a model group in New York and it was during that time that she met American businessman Donald Trump in 1976. The two grew closer and on 7 April 1977, both of them got married in a church. At that time, Ivana started helping her husband Donald Trump’s business.
Donald Trump started getting success and business also started growing. Together they did several major business projects, including the Trump Tower in Manhattan, the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in New Jersey and the renovation of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City. Then from 1989, their relationship started souring and both of them got divorced in 1992.
