Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED on March 21 in the liquor scam case. Arvind Kejriwal had approached Delhi High Court against his arrest and ED remand. Arvind Kejriwal had filed an application in the Delhi High Court against the arrest, but Justice Swarnakanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court had rejected Kejriwal’s application. Delhi High Court had said that Arvind Kejriwal was arrested under the law. Delhi High Court had also said that prima facie, ED has a lot of evidence against Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal had said in his petition in the Delhi High Court that he has been arrested to stop him from campaigning. On this, Delhi High Court had said that court and law have nothing to do with politics. The court had also refused to give special concession to Arvind Kejriwal.
After arresting Arvind Kejriwal, ED produced him in Rouse Avenue Court. There ED had told that Arvind Kejriwal is the kingpin i.e. the main conspirator of the liquor scam case. Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party continuously accused ED that if there was a liquor scam, then the investigating agency could not recover even a single penny of it. On behalf of ED, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju had told in the court that through the liquor scam, Aam Aadmi Party received Rs 100 crore as bribe and out of this, Rs 45 crore was spent in the Goa Assembly elections. ED claims that it also has evidence of receiving bribe money and spending it in Goa.
