New Delhi. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is getting blow after blow from the courts. Delhi High Court on Tuesday had rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s plea against his arrest. At the same time, now Rouse Avenue Court has refused to accept one of the demands of Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal is being allowed to meet his lawyers 2 days a week as per the jail manual. Arvind Kejriwal had filed an application in Rouse Avenue Court to increase the days of meeting with lawyers from 2 to 5 days a week. Judge Kaveri Baweja of the ED court located at Rouse Avenue has rejected this application.
Arvind Kejriwal had filed an application in Rouse Avenue Court saying that there were many cases against him. Therefore, there is a need to meet the lawyers for more time. Kejriwal’s lawyers are allowed to meet their clients for one hour each, two days a week. Arvind Kejriwal had demanded to increase this. On this, ED’s lawyer said that Kejriwal is being provided facilities under the jail manual. The counsel for the investigating agency also said in the Rouse Avenue court that everyone is treated equally in the jail. If someone wants to run the government from jail, he cannot be given the privilege. ED’s lawyer also said in the court that legal meetings with Kejriwal are being misused for other purposes also.
After hearing the arguments of ED and Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyers, the court rejected the Delhi CM’s demand to meet his lawyers 5 days a week. Delhi High Court has already said that ED has evidence that Arvind Kejriwal is the kingpin of the liquor scam. Regarding Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi High Court has also said that prima facie he took part in the conspiracy and also received bribe. Arvind Kejriwal has now also gone to the Supreme Court against the decision of Delhi High Court.
