Kannauj: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has once again jumped into the battle of Kannauj. Kannauj was considered the fort of Mulayam Singh Yadav family till 2019. But, in the Modi wave of 2019, SP chief Akhilesh’s wife Dimple Yadav missed the seat. He was rejected by the public. However, this defeat was by only 12,353 votes. Now Akhilesh himself is in the field to conquer this fort.
Akhilesh Yadav has been MP from Kannauj thrice in the past. In the year 2000, he was elected MP for the first time in the by-election held on Kannauj seat. After that he was MP from the same seat in 2004 and 2009 also. Due to his resignation from Lok Sabha after becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh’s wife Dimple was elected unopposed in the by-election held on Kannauj seat in 2012.
Dimple had won from the same seat in the 2014 general elections also. However, in the 2019 elections, she was defeated by BJP’s Subrata Pathak. Akhilesh Yadav is currently the MLA from Karhal assembly seat and the leader of opposition in the assembly. in kannauj Lok Sabha Elections Voting will be held on May 13 under the fourth phase.

Close contest in 2022 assembly
As far as the current situation of SP in Kannauj is concerned, a close contest was seen here in the 2022 assembly elections. Here B J P SP got 43.8 percent votes and SP got 41.7 percent votes. There are five assembly seats in this parliamentary constituency, out of which four are occupied by BJP and one by SP. There are 13.37 percent Muslim and 22 percent SC voters in this area. There are about 2.5 lakh Yadav voters here. The number of Rajput and Brahmin voters here is also said to be decent.
